Yard

Yard-work, with Chainsaws.

The house has a crazy yard. Tons of mature trees, years of carefully cultivated plants, intricate paths around the shed and play set and the boys’ favorite thing about the house – a creek.

We have already ordered a new play set with a spectacular combination of climbing wall, fort, slide, swings, trapeze, etc. to be installed on June 1. We also have a fence set to be installed around that same time. Tomorrow, we will have the official survey on the property to ensure we do not inadvertently piss-off a neighbor with the new fence placement.

An important first step in the yard improvement plan was to have a few dead trees removed from the yard. A few others needed a nice limb-haircut for the safety of the roof and to shut-down a squirrel highway.

This was my first experience watching the process of tree removal. It is terrifying and very loud. There are incredibly skilled men climbing into trees and whipping chainsaws and ropes around with impressive confidence. Also, a chainsaw dangling from a rope is not a great thing to view from the kitchen window.

Jose and the boys did a fantastic job, they have a service that comes through with an massive truck/crane combo to remove the piles of cut logs. The real bonus was the blower clean-up of the roof included a surprise gutter-cleaning.

We highly recommend these guys if you’re in the Atlanta area and in need, here’s a shot of the van business card:
