House, Paint

Grays, so many Grays

The first tasks assigned to us by the contractor include choosing paint colors. Joanna Gaines makes this look so easy, she walks into a room waves her hand toward the wall and says “and a coat of fresh paint” and you just know she’s already figured out the exact color for every square inch of that house.

I am no Joanna Gaines. I have been in a Pinterest rabbit hole for endless hours studying paint colors. I’m surprisingly productive at 3 am.

The goal is to paint the entire house, inside and out. That’s a lot of fucking paint. It’s also increasingly important to be done with the painting quickly. The temporary living arrangement aka Tiny House, is smaller than the townhouse. The townhouse we sold because it was too small. Tiny House has one bathroom. You understand.

With both limited time and patience, the initial paint for the interior of the house needs to be a solid neutral base that we can work with over time. Gray it is! Simple. Nope. Gray isn’t always gray. It can be a blue gray, a green gray and even a purple gray.

Goddammit, Joanna, why aren’t you in my city or my budget?

I ultimately decided on these colors:

I am now the proud owner of 7 sample tubs of paint in these colors and the cutest little paint rollers you’ve ever seen. I discovered 12×12 adhesive sheets that you can paint and repaint. They are so much better than the silly little chips and so helpful for the chronically indecisive.

These things are all found here for those of you that also  have a paint conundrum: Sample tubs, adhesive panels, tiny rollers – Enjoy.
