Primer!
One update today, and it is a big one. Primer! I hope the weather cooperates, because the paint phase is scheduled to start tomorrow. I really can’t take much more of those odd white shutter ghosts on the siding. Primer, y’all!!!

The fence, also known as the child containment unit, was completed today. These drains will be buried soon. Also, those gates can be lifted out entirely, so we can haul mulch into the backyard (next week, maybe). The new front porch rail is the other big progress this week. The posts went in on Thursday.… Read More Fence & Front Porch
There are so many updates today it is tough to pick a place to begin. The power washing prep for exterior paint is impressive. Even this cute little thing will get a bath and a spa day soon. There is a large deck on the back of the house. Typically, the deck is the best… Read More Outside Progress Updates
The painting was winding down today. The brick, trim and touch up areas were all getting attention. I’m really happy with the improvement in this room. Even the garage looks great, minus the trash that’s being hauled off this weekend. We put the flag up for Memorial Day. It will have to come down… Read More New Pool
I’m not morning people. No amount of coffee will ever make me morning people. I did manage to haul myself north early this morning to get photos of the paint progress. For extra fun I’ve managed to find a few photos for a little before comparison. This is the front room, no light fixtures up… Read More Paint!
We had the electrician out this morning to manage some of the issues flagged on the inspection report. This list includes assorted fun like uncapped wires in the panel, outlets that aren’t grounded, and the surprising choice of a garage door opener wired to a light switch in the kitchen. The list goes on, but you… Read More Paint and Counting Outlets
Today’s trip to Home Depot was to find new knobs for the interior doors. The original ones are brassy, and that will not work with the new paint. So now we have new knobs. I dropped the new knobs off at the house. Trim painting is underway! I’m hoping the dark trim will hold up under… Read More Knobs & Trim
We made it through IKEA unscathed. We found light fixtures for the boys’ rooms and possibly a few outdoor chairs for the deck. Then it was off to Target, because it is not a weekend unless we are in an f’ing Target. We needed a gift for a 4 year-old’s birthday party later today… and… Read More Impulse Buys and Primer
It is Saturday. The 4 year-old graduated PreK this morning. That wasn’t a thing when I was a kid. They wore little caps and gowns. Each child received a special award highlighting a particular talent they’ve shown this year and, of course, a diploma. I did not cry. I did not cry, much. Considering the… Read More Milestones and Mailboxes
Today’s Updates. The mailbox died. The post was a bit old, and no match for an energetic 4 year-old. This will mean a bump in priority for the ‘replace mailbox’ item on the House Checklist. Yes, of course there’s a list. It is in Excel, with tabs. One day soon, I’ll go into the importance of the House Binder.… Read More Day 5 Progress :: The Wall
